Govt. of India plans to roll out AADHAAR ( UID ) based subsidy payments for various govt schemes .This list of schemes also covers subsidy given for domestic LPG cylinders which 9 per year for one household as of writing this article . The schedule for this rollout is given below . If you hold a domestic LPG gas connection and wish to avail of direct cash subsidy , this is what you need to do .
1.Get an AADHAR card .
2.Go to your bank and link your AADHAR card to your bank account. This is also called as Aadhaar-enabled bank account (AEBA) . Please also carry your original AADHAR card for verification
3.Create an AADHAR registration sheet as shown in the picture .
4.Now go to your LPG gas distributor and submit this sheet to him. Please also carry your original AADHAR card for verification .You need to also carry Xerox of your LPG blue book or latest LPG delivery receipt.
Note that if your LPG connection and AADHAR card has diff addresses then you need to also attach residence proof for AADHAR linking ( as in step 4)
Please also note that these steps are only for AADHAR linking with LPG connection . Its is not a substitute for KYC that is mandated by Govt Oil Marketing Companies . So its prudent to ask your LPG distributor about KYC and carry it out separately .
Most important implication of this scheme is that now on when you buy your LPG cylinder you need to pay a market rate of 900+ Rs for it and later based on your eligibility Govt of India will deposit in your account the subsidy amount . In short the scheme is like “pay market rate and get subsidy money later” . I am trying to figure out if this subsidy amount is taxed as income , lets c.
